Today I went out of my comfort zone and tried a new place to eat, Qdoba.  It's a Mexican restaurant, and one recently opened up on Woodland Avenue.  I went along with my co-host Cathy who acted as my guide to this new place.  It's helpful to have someone along that's been there before so you don't look like a noob.

Now, I want to make this perfectly clear... I LOVE Chipotle Burritos, so immediately my mind is comparing everything to Chipotle.  And when you walk in, it feels like a Chipotle.  Really, if you had blindfolded me and walked me inside and said it was a Chipotle, I would have believed you.

It has the same assembly line set up for your burrito.  Similar options, although I believe Qdoba has a few more entree choices.  To be fair with my comparison, I was going to get a steak burrito with the same general ingredients that I normally get at Chipotle.

And really, the choices are pretty much the same as well.  Qdoba actually has more sauces to try, and next time I'm going to try something different.

I added on a pop and chips & guacamole to my order.  The total with tax was $14.54.  Ouch.  That was more than I wanted to spend on lunch by about 5 bucks.   It IS a lot of food, and the chips are enough for two people.  Also, the steak burrito is $1 more expensive.  So there are ways to bring the price down.  It's not much more expensive than Chipotle, but there is a slight increase.

So I was ready to taste my burrito.  I peeled back the foil wrapper and bit in.  It was really good.  The taste is right on par with my normal Chipotle creation, and I expect it will be even better next time after I add some of their special sauces and get a little more adventerous.  The nice thing too about Qdoba, is I didn't have to stand in line for a half an hour.  (However, the line did get a little long when we were leaving.)

I recommend giving it a try, just bring a few extra bucks with you.
