If you ever wondered if good spelling actually matters, here's your answer.

The principal of Public School Number Twenty in Paterson, NJ, was reassigned after the marquee outside the school featured several errors.

It took a week before anyone realized the words "December" and "reports" were misspelled, while the number "1" was put up backward.

Reaction was harsh, with many people calling the incident embarrassing, what with a school -- which is supposed to teach kids to spell -- making the glaring errors.

And while we've all seen signs misspelled outside stores, hotels, restaurants or any public place, this one came at a cost. The school's principal was reassigned, although it's not clear if the marquee mistake was the reason.
