Winter Storm Warning Remains in Effect with Another Foot or More of Snow Possible in This Final Round

Nick Cooper – TSM Duluth

While many places in the region have already seen between 1 and 2 feet of snow (see latest snowfall totals here), another heavy round is expected to hit today, leaving a final storm total of between 2 and 3 feet through much of the area before the snow clears out and frigidly cold conditions slide into the area. As this storm moves through, we remain under a winter storm warning through 6 am Thursday.

Storm Breakdown

Wednesday: Moderate to heavy snowfall will persist through much of the day on Wednesday. The heaviest snowfall is expected in the earlier parts of the day, adding an additional 8-12 inches through the day on top of what we already have. As with the rest of this storm, higher amounts are likely along the Lake Superior shoreline between Duluth and Grand Marais, with 12-20 inches possible in some areas. South of the Twin Ports, there is a chance of seeing some mixed precipitation during the daytime hours as well, as this storm draws warm and moist air from the south.

Thursday: Snow will taper off, ushering in frigid temperatures barely into the teens during the day and single digits for Thursday night. High temperatures in the single digits are likely Friday and through the weekend, which will be accompanied by wind chills below zero.

Keep an eye on the latest road conditions here, and follow the latest school or office closings here.
