Getting people to clean up after their dogs during walks isn’t always an easy feat — but in Mexico City, a pilot program rewards folks for doing so in a very modern way.

Mexican internet portal Terra has set up special boxes in 10 parks, and when people use them to throw away their bags of poop, the weight is calculated and Terra accordingly gives everyone in the park free minutes of Wi-Fi. The greater the weight, the more minutes internet users get.

And what if trash is tossed in the boxes instead of doggie droppings? That’s okay, too — after all, the goal is to have cleaner parks. But during the day, “hostesses” hand out poop bags and stand by the boxes to help ensure they’re used properly.

Sounds pretty win-win to us. Take a look at how the program works below.
