Soup is one of my favorite foods.  Broth, creamed, chicken, beef, all veggies, doesn't matter, I'm a fan.  So, I'm looking forward to the upcoming inaugural event Winter Warm Up Soup & Chili Cook-off, a fundraiser for the Epilepsy Foundation of MN and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at Superior Shores Resort in Two Harbors.  Top chefs will be competing for trophies.

Bring friends and mark your calendar for Saturday, February 6.  This is a free to attend event, but of course, we are looking to raise as much as possible for our two chosen non-profits, suggested donations are $10-$20.  A cash bar will also be available that evening.  The event is slated to run from 5-8p and is sure to warm you up!

Top Chefs in the region will be vying for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies.  One of the chefs is Kelly Trumpold, co-owner of Farley's Family Restaurant in Hermantown.

Congratulations to Kelly and Beth Trumpold who just took 6th place in the World Food Championships Chili competition in Kissimmee, FL.  Get this, the winning chili included a poached egg with flour tortillas that were homemade and added guacamole creme fraiche on top.  (I don't even know what THAT is!!!???!!)  While they were there Beth took 8th place for her bacon-stuffed French toast in a bacon competition.  Hello!  Yum!  Bacon!  They've also won top honors time and time again locally with their burgers, pizza and wings!

That's just one of the chefs bringing their talents to this yummy event!  The Trumpolds have their work cut out for them, they'll be up against chefs from Bluefin Bay Resort, Northwoods Family Grille and Superior Shores Resort, who by the way,  will feel comfortable in their own kitchen.  Best of luck to all, can't wait to judge your masterpieces!
