Even though the weather has turned colder and there is a few snowflakes in our forecast, road construction in the Northland continues.  There is scheduled road construction for this week that may affect your travel, check this out and see if it means you'll need to alter your route to get to your destination on time.

There will be a scheduled pavement restoration project this week on the southbound side of US Hwy 53 (also known as East Central Entrance), just north of the Rice Lake Road intersection. City crews will be restoring the pavement on Wednesday, October 29, during non-rush hour periods to patch the road that was excavated due to  previous watermain repairs that occurred this spring. In addition to the pavement repairs, city crews will be grinding off some of the pavement just north of the referenced intersection to allow for better snow removal conditions this winter. Traffic lanes will be open but motorists may experience some delays.

Pending good weather conditions, pavement restoration will also take place in the right turn lane from southbound East Central Entrance onto Mesabi Avenue on Thursday, October 30. This work will require closure of the turn lane but again, the work will be planned during non-rush hour periods.

The City of Duluth thanks you for your patience and cooperation.
