We "fall back" an hour this weekend.  That used to mean we would get an extra hour of sleep.  Now, as parents, it means we will fight and struggle with waking up the kids and getting them to sleep for a week.

If you're not a parent, you don't understand.  Kids thrive on routine, and it's what keeps you sane as a parent.  We have a set bed time every night.  The kids wake up at the same time everyday.  It keeps things moving along somewhat efficiently, with minor hiccups here and there.

Our 7 year old adjusts OK to this.  He still doesn't comprehend the fact that sometimes you need to go to bed in the summer when it's still light out (those June & July Nights.)  In the winter he keeps asking if it's bed time when in reality it's just depressingly dark at 5pm.

Our toddler is another story.  She doesn't respond to reason, she has her own internal clock that runs on batteries filled with redbull, and she loves to take naps at inappropriate times.

My wife sent me this text this morning:

"Jane has been up since 6 running around crazy and super hyper."

Me- "What's up with that?"

Her-" I have no idea."

Me: "Daylight saving time this weekend"

Her- "S.C.R.E.W.E.D"

That about sums it up.
