Oops… Wrong Cookie.
Two weeks ago we ordered Chinese. We had a pretty big order, so they left us about a dozen fortune cookies. I picked one and opened it up. I know that it's bad luck to eat the cookie before you read the fortune. Anyone that's seen the ending to Space Balls knows that too. But, there wasn't a fortune in it! An empty fortune cookie! What does that mean? I have no future? Is this a bad thing?
The next day I brought it up to my old and wise co-host Cathy Kates, and she said that its a sign of good luck. Apparently, she is quite familiar with fortune cookies. She does eat a lot of Chinese. So I figured hey, good deal. I have some good luck.
Then today Cathy and I had lunch at another Chinese place, and I got this fortune cookie, "Oops... Wrong Cookie". So if you're keeping count, that's two cookies in two weeks that haven't had a fortune. Should I be concerned?
Or is this dude just getting bored at work, or slacking off? I have to admit it would be a pretty boring job, and I would be tempted to mess with people.
