Over 8 million people suffer from a form of PTSD in the United States alone.  Many of them are combat veterans who have returned from multiple tours over seas in areas like Iraq and Afghanistan.  Now, experts are using virtual reality as a tool for veterans to confront their fears and problems.

As they explain in the video from ABC below, a lot of times when the soldier is in combat, they don't get to fully process what they've seen or deal with the feelings.  They get pushed aside while they try to fight for their life.  So bringing back those situations can help them process what they were feeling, with a clinician by their side.
