Anyone who has gone downtown to cheer on the runners during Grandma's Marathon has been faced with the challenge of finding convenient parking.  That should be less of a challenge from now on as good news arrived from the City Of Duluth just in time for Saturday's race.

According to the city's press release, spectators will now have a nice new parking option with the convenience of skywalk connectivity and within a few minutes walking distance of harbor-front venues and activities.

Duluth's newest parking ramp, at 410 West 1st Street, and a new public skywalk that were constructed as part of the Maurices project are now open. The latest skywalk segment connects eastern downtown to the Radisson Hotel and the Duluth Public Library.  The skywalk will operate from 7 AM to 7 PM every day, with extended hours possible for special events.

This will add 481 parking spaces, which are accessible from entry points at West First Street or the alley off of 5th Ave West, just above Superior Street, with skywalk access from the 2nd floor of Maurices.

Hourly parking is offered at the rate of $2 per hour, but there is a $3 flat rate on weekends.
