The Minnesota DNR has been working hard in recent years to stop the spread of invasive species in our great lakes.  A new law was passed in 2011, and will finally take effect on July 1st for anyone even transporting a boat through Minnesota.  The law requires boat owners to take a test and get a decal to place on their boat.  The law is called "The Aquatic Invasive Species Training Law."

More announcements are expected to be made by the DNR, and a big Media Push is set for the spring to let boaters know about the new law.  The DNR also says that it will start with warnings for violators at first.

The cost for the test hasn't been determined yet, but we should know by next month.
