We've been seeing the promos for NBC's new show 'Best Time Ever' with Neil Patrick Harris for quite sometime.  I was mildly interested at first, and last night I ended up watching the debut.  It's a refreshing show that's different that what we've been seeing lately, and most of the credit goes to the very talented host.

I've like NPH (Neil Patrick Harris) since I was a kid (and so was he) on Dougie Howser, MD.  We saw him make a resurgence in a couple of films, and then he had huge success in 'How I Met Your Mother.'

What I wasn't so aware of is his amazing talent.  Not only can he sing, dance, act, juggle, bartend (see below), and do magic tricks, but he can do the most important thing:  CARRY A LIVE SHOW.

Doing a live show is incredibly difficult.  You need to be smart, quick, creative, witty, and mentally sharp to handle what happens.   Because a lot happens and it's apparent when you see the show.  He's literally sweating from running across the parking lot in between commercial breaks.

What I like about this show is it's different.  It's not another tiring talent show.  It's not a staged reality show.  It's not a horribly put together live show.

It's fresh, it's exciting, and it's great to see something new.  And bravo to NPH for pulling it off!

Here's a couple of clips from last night.
