The celebrating is done, the guests have gone home and you've taken down the decorations and holiday tree.  Usually, you stick it in the snowbank outside (and deal with it weeks later, but this year....most of us don't have a snowbank.  So, what should you do?  Treecycle with WLSSD!  BUT, trees only!  Wreaths, garland and other decorations should go in your trash.  They have added many more locations for your convenience.

Here is the list of sites to drop your trees off at between now and the end of the month according to WDIO.com:

Six sites are open for tree drop off through January 10th:

  • Chester Bowl (parking lot by playground)
  • Lester Park (parking lot by playground)
  • Duluth Heights Community Club (parking lot across the street)
  • Woodland Community Club (lower parking lot off Woodland Ave)
  • Rose Garden (parking lot)
  • City of Duluth West Toolhouse (on Commonwealth Avenue)

Two sites in Carlton County are open through January 12th:

  • SAPPI Fine Paper (Cloquet)
  • Moose Lake Compost Site

Four additional sites are open through January 31st:

  • Demo-licious (in western Duluth)
  • VEIT/VONCO V Landfill (in the Gary neighborhood)
  • WLSSD Yard Waste Compost Site (off 27th Avenue West)
  • WLSSD Materials Recovery Center (off Rice Lake Road)

There's also a treecycling event planned for this Saturday, January 10 from 9a-3p in the parking lot of the Superior Target store. Please make it there at the posted times and do not leave your trees in the lot before or after the event out of respect.
