‘National Prescription Drug Take Back Day’ Set For Saturday

If you have prescription drugs that you haven't gotten around to disposing of, mark your calendar.

This Saturday, April 28th, you can properly do so with the help of the Duluth Police Department.

The Department is partnering with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration in an effort to combat the opioid epidemic. This is something several local police departments across the country take part in.

The purpose of the "take back day" is to teach the community about the importance of getting rid of old and unused medications properly and to help bring awareness to the risks of drug abuse, especially with the tragic opioid epidemic spreading across the country. These efforts are a small but crucial step in curbing this abuse.

According to the Duluth Police Department's Facebook page, nearly 10 million pounds of prescription drugs have been properly disposed of since the event first started nationwide.
