This morning I was rather annoyed when I had a motorcycle tailgating me on the way to work.   On top of that, he didn't have a front headlight on.  Which means there must have been some sort of malfunction, because motorcycles always have the headlight on when the motor is running.  (It's a law that the manufacture has to make the bike that way.)

May I add that it was 30 degrees out with frost on the road?  That's not a smart time to ride.  He also was under dressed, so he was tailgating me to try to cut the wind down.  This could have been a disaster if a deer had ran in front of me.  He would be dead now, after smashing into the back of my pickup truck.  It was stupid, irresponsible motorcycle habits.

I've been riding a motorcycle for a long time, so don't think I'm anti-motorcycles.  I'm anti-stupidity.  That goes for automobiles too.  Lots of stupid, irresponsible drivers that text and don't pay attention or cut into your lane.   Everyone needs to be smart and treat their vehicles as machines that have the potential to take lives.   It may sound extreme, but that's what people need to know.

Motorcyclists need to assume they are invisible and can't be seen and practice safe riding techniques.  People in automobiles need to look twice.

And for pete's sake where a helmet if you're on a bike, and buckle up if you are in a car.

This week's forecast calls for temperatures in the 60's, so there will be a lot of bikes out there.
