Grandma's Marathon weekend brings a lot of energy, people and fun to the Northland.  It also brings a lot of traffic and the Minnesota Department of Transportation whats everyone to be prepared this weekend.

MnDOT says that Marathon events, which officially begin this year on Thursday, June 16, attract 50,000 to 60,000 visitors to the area each year.

Highway 61/London Road and the North Shore Scenic Highway will be closed during the race on Saturday.

Also, traffic is restricted to a single lane in each direction on I-35 in the Pine City/Hinckley area due to a road resurfacing project, and lengthy backups are expected.

To avoid traffic delays, MnDOT encourages visitors to come early and stay late or consider taking alternate routes.

If you're driving, just crank B105, relax and enjoy the weekend sunshine.  The Northland is a road rage free area.
