The start of a new year means the start of new year’s resolutions for many folks, and Miranda Lambert is not excluded from having a fresh set of goals. In a recent interview with Shape magazine, the Grammy-winning country songstress revealed that she’s got high hopes for 2012, which include being included on the soundtrack for ‘The Hunger Games.’

“I just finished reading ‘The Hunger Games,’” Lambert spilled, sharing her love of the Suzanne Collins young adult novels. “I loved it so much, I wrote a song that I’m hoping will be on the movie’s sound track. Cross your fingers for me!”

Should Lambert’s song — which she did not share the details on — make the soundtrack, she’ll be in good company. Last month, Taylor Swift dropped an unexpected new track featuring the Civil Wars, which sent fans into a downloading whirlwind. That song, ‘Safe and Sound,’ is also on ‘The Hunger Games’ compilation.

Other artists confirmed to be included on the release, like Arcade Fire and the Decemberists, are far enough outside of the country music realm that it’s a very real possibility that Lambert will get her wish. If not, we’re sure she’ll be the first in line at the theater when ‘The Hunger Games’ movie comes out on March 23.
