George Strait Once Helped Mend a Fight Between Miranda Lambert and Her Dad

George Strait may be the king of country music, but he’s also a master of settling arguments with comedy, and Miranda Lambert has the story to prove it.

Lambert was on tour with Strait in 2006 when she decided to get a reverse tattoo of guns and wings that took up the entirety of her forearm, much to her father’s dismay — so much so that he gave her the silent treatment.

Somehow, the King of Country heard about drama and sent out for nearly a hundred fake, press-on tattoos. At the end of the tour when they were about to take the group picture, Strait surprised the “We Should Be Friends” singer by having every member of the crew put on one of the fake tattoos as a humorous prank. The joke was so good that even Lambert’s father was laughing and put one on, as well.

“It sort of like broke the ice between me and my dad and he talked to me again and wasn’t mad anymore, so I like to say that George Strait helped mend my dad and my relationship over the tattoo incident,” Lambert says with a laugh.

Strait is preparing for his multi-show run of 2 Nights of No. 1s in 2017, a show at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas where the legendary country star performs two nights worth of his biggest career hits. The first set of dates kick off April 7-8. Up-and-comer Cam serves as the opening act for the special event. Kacey Musgraves opened for the legend during the show’s original run. Strait will also take the stage in Las Vegas July 28-29, Sept. 1-2 and Dec. 8-9.
