While the full Minnesota waterfowl season doesn't get underway until later this month, this weekend provides an opportunity for Minnesota youth to get a head start.

This Saturday, September 12, is Youth Waterfowl Day.  During the day, hunters ages 15 and under may take regular season bag limits when accompanied by a non-hunting adult (18 or older), and youth do not need a license or stamps to participate. The accompanying adult may not hunt and does not need a license.

According to the Minnesota DNR, ducks, Canada geese, mergansers, coots and moorhens may be taken from a half-hour before sunrise to 4 p.m. Motorized decoy restrictions are in effect. Five geese may be taken statewide.  You can get complete waterfowl hunting regulations below.

Have a safe and successful hunt!
