Minnesota Wild Switching to Digital Ticketing for Season Tickets

The Minnesota Wild announced plans to replace paper tickets for season ticket holders starting in the upcoming season.

Matt Majka, Wild Chief Operating Officer, says the time is right to make the change to digital tickets, saying fans have become accustomed to using online and mobile technology.

Rather than paper tickets, season ticket holders will receive a credit card-sized smart card that contains all of their account information. The card will simply be scanned as ticket holders enter the Xcel Energy Center.

Team representatives say the digital ticketing includes fast, convenient online forwarding without any forwarding fees. This makes it so fans can't grab the wrong game tickets by mistake, or give the wrong tickets to friends and family. Beside convenience, the team also points out that another large benefit is the reduction in printing and paper waste.

The Wild are the first professional Minnesota team to adopt digital tickets. Rumors say the Vikings will explore adopting digital ticketing as well, once they move into their new stadium.
