I'm surprised it's taken this long but the Minnesota Vikings are now supporters of breastfeeding and they aren't waiting until the new stadium is built.  Breastfeeding mothers will have the facilities they need as soon as October 18th when the Vikes take on the Chiefs.  They are providing Mamava lactation suites for nursing mothers.

Ken and I sorta went rounds on-air about this because at first he scoffed.  His wife just got done breastfeeding so I was surprised.  But, his beef was that children that young, that don't understand the game are there in the first place.  Honestly, I've attended many games and the decibels of noise is much to great for a small child's ears.  So, on that subject, we both agreed.

However, for nursing mom's that don't have a babysitter and just can't miss the game, the Minnesota Vikings have you covered, literally.  They call them pods but, they are sorta like an outhouse, for lack of better words to describe it.  A nice outhouse with the following amenities:

  • Dual seating for mama’s comfort preference and room for child or companion
  • Fold down table to comfortably situate a breast pump
  •  Power outlet for breast pump
  •  Space for luggage and/or stroller
  •  Manufactured with food safe, easily cleaned materials
  •  Soft lighting
  •  Fixture with mirror and clean-up supplies
  • Occupied lock

The Minnesota Vikings are the first team to offer the this private breastfeeding option!  They want mothers to feel comfortable and have noticed an increase of mothers with babies coming to the games.  Their plans are to install pods at the new U.S. Bank Stadium once it opens next year.  I'm sure it will be complete with TV screens to monitor the game so mom's don't miss a minute of the exciting action.
