Beginning Monday, March 5, the Minnesota Slip Bridge will be closed for an extended period.  Having the bridged closed isn't a shock, what is shocking is that it's not because it's broken.

According to the City of Duluth, the Minnesota Slip Bridge, also known as the Blue Bridge, in Canal Park will be closed until May 3 so it can be prepared for a new paint job. The preparation will include encapsulating the bridge, then sandblasting the old paint before applying new "teal" colored paint.

After going through extensive repairs last year, this fresh coat of paint is actually final step in keeping the Minnesota Slip Bridge consistently open to the public.  That's great news because when operational, the bridge provides incredible convenience for people walking to various locations in Canal Park.
