We are really, really, REALLY getting close to summer with the announcement that the blue Minnesota Slip Bridge is opening, Friday, May 1! It's official with the posting of the summer hours. That means we can expect more action in the Canal Park area soon!

Yup, we're definitely gearing up for the tourist and boating season with the opening of the Minnesota Slip Bridge.  That's the one that connects Canal Park and the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (the DECC) in addition to other venues such as the Great Lakes Aquarium and Bayfront Festival Park.

The plan is to have the Slip Bridge operational from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Sunday through Thursday and 8:00 am to 11:00 pm Friday and Saturday. Of course they'll take into account, the events in that area and some days may open earlier or stay open longer.

HISTORY OF THE MINNESOTA SLIP BRIDGE:

I can't believe it's been there this long!  It was built in 1991, and has had it's share of challenges in maintaining consistent operations.  But, of course, the City has been diligent in monitoring and making improvements to the Slip Bridge to reduce disruptions. The City of Duluth continually strives to provide efficient water vessel and pedestrian mobility in the Canal Park business district.
