Minnesota Counties Considering New Taxes to Pay for Road Repair
I was just thinking the other day, "Man, I wish I could pay more taxes!". Well, it looks like that may become a reality for everyone in St. Louis County.
KBJR-TV is reporting that St. Louis County commissioners are debating whether to charge drivers a $10 tax per vehicle registration and plate renewal, to go towards road repairs.
The proposed fee would raise between $1.5 to $1.8 million dollars annually.
The other sales tax would include a one-half of a percent county tax which would also go towards county road construction projects.
This sales tax would potentially generate $8.5 to $11 million dollars annually.
What are your thoughts? Are these new tax ideas justified?
