My husband and I have a wood burner so we are very conscious of where we can get the wood we burn.  We found that there are certain counties in Wisconsin that won't allow the transport of wood across county lines due to gypsy moths and the emerald ash borer beetle.  There was an emergency quarantine on Park Point last year that prompted the City to open a brush drop off site for Park Point residents.  Now that it's Spring they will be offering the service again.

The same insect, the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) beetle that was found in Superior last year, was also found on Park Point in Duluth.  After a public meeting the City of Duluth came up with a management plan.

Then they began operating a brush drop off site on Park Point located in the parking lot near the beach house.  They are re-opening the site for Park Point residents who want to do a bit of spring clean-up of their yard.  There are two upcoming dates the drop off site will be staffed,  Saturday(s), May 7 and May 21 from 10a-2p.  A June schedule will be forthcoming.

Obviously, just like the counties in Wisconsin, Park Point residents are prohibited from removing any wood or wood parts off of the Point and residents from other areas of the city are not allowed to use the site.  If you don't live on the point you are asked to bring your brush to the compost site at the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District.
