Martina McBride and Kelly Clarkson Duet on ‘In the Basement’ [Listen]
http://youtu.be/o1qAfatzvtk Martina McBride loves to duet, and her rendition of ‘In the Basement’ with Kelly Clarkson shows that the country star not only loves singing with others — she’s also really great at it. In their first-ever studio duet together, the two singers combine their talents on a super sassy, undeniably catchy cover of the 1966 Etta James duet with Sugar Pie DeSanto. The duet can be found on McBride’s upcoming album, ‘Everlasting,’ which includes interpretations of other iconic and soulful songs. The record is due out April 8. It boasts a range of tracks from Elvis to Jimmy Ruffin, the Supremes and Van Morrison, and spans years of hits from 1955-2010. In addition to the Clarkson duet, ‘Everlasting’ also features a collaboration with pop star Gavin DeGraw on ‘Bring It on Home to Me,’ originally performed by Sam Cooke. Clarkson hinted at the collaboration in January, admitting that being in the recording studio with McBride was a nice distraction from being pregnant. In turn, her duet partner calls the partnership “really fun.” The two songstresses last sang live together in 2006 when they honored the famed Reba McEntire (and Clarkson’s mother-in-law) on ‘CMT Giants,’ performing ‘Does He Love You.’ ‘Everlasting’ is available for preorder now on iTunes, and to make the deal even sweeter, country fans can immediately download the McBride/Clarkson duet. With two powerhouse singers and a track full of talent, this is one song that won’t be collecting dust in the basement!
