Residents located in the neighborhood near Poplar Avenue and Belknap Street in Superior recently received a notice that a major project may be taking place soon.  The 'Poplar Avenue Stormwater Project' will help alleviate current and future stormwater runoff with a larger drain system.  The goal is to reduce the risk of flooding for the Central Business district.

Bids are being accepted now, and the tentative start date will be Mid-may.  The project will not be paid by assessment, but rather from money from the Wisconsin DOT.

Hopefully this will help with sewage back ups in the area and flooding issues.  The city has mentioned that similar projects have shown to work well in other areas of town such as Billings Park and South Superior.
