Loretta Lynn’s Granddaughters Make a Splash on ‘Beat Shazam’ [Watch]

It’s no secret that Loretta Lynn is a seasoned music icon, and it looks like she passed her musical knowledge onto her granddaughters, Tayla Lynn and Emmy Rose Russell.

The singer’s relatives recently competed on an episode of the Fox TV series, Beat Shazam hosted by Jamie Foxx, where three teams compete against each other to be the first to buzz in the correct name of a song after just a few notes are played. The country legend’s granddaughters did her proud in the Disco round, being the only team to correctly guess the first song, “Disco Inferno,” scoring $1,000 in the process.

While they got off to a strong start, Lynn revealed on her official website that she and Russell were sadly the first team to be eliminated, but the experience was “still tons of fun.” The young star is clearly following in the footsteps of her famous grandmother, releasing a four-song EP in 2016 titled The Ranch, which features a duet with the country icon on a remake of her debut single, “I’m a Honky Tonk Girl.” She’s currently working on a follow-up album and reveals on her PledgeMusic page that she’s set to collaborate again with her “Memaw.”

The country legend is currently recovering from a stroke she endured in May of 2017, informing fans in a Facebook post that she is postponing the release date of her upcoming album, Wouldn’t it Be Great, which was originally scheduled for an August release, and is canceling her remaining tour dates for 2017. But she also assures fans that she’s “getting stronger every day.”

“I’m just letting everybody know that Willie ain’t dead yet and neither am I,” Lynn writes. “And I can’t wait to see all of you on the road!”
