It was a throwback to old school country at the 2014 CMA Awards. Kacey Musgraves, appeared on stage amid a barnyard set outfitted with a classic country band, and began singing Loretta Lynn’s 1971 hit ‘You’re Lookin’ at Country.'

Though Musgraves got the performance off to a great start, the real show began when Lynn herself joined in. The legend strode on stage looking glamorous in a glittery ensemble and sounding just as perfect as ever. Her husky voice shone and blended with Musgraves’ well, making a the match-up a standout performance of 'Country Music’s Biggest Night.'

It was the second surprise in less than 20 minutes for Musgraves and CMA viewers. Earlier her song 'Follow Your Arrow' took home the CMA for 'Song of the Year.'
