Our own local team could possibly be heading to the Jr Little League World series.  They fought back yesterday afternoon to stay alive, and play Kentucky at 1:00 today.  Here's a recap of what happened yesterday:The Minnesota State Champion Little League Lake Park Junior All Stars came from behind to beat Iowa in extra innings on Tuesday in the Midwest Regional Tournament in Fort Wayne, IN

Trailing 10-5 in the 7th inning as the visiting team ( this league plays 7 innings) Lake Park scored 6 runs to put them up 11-10.  The highlight was a bases loaded double hit by Tyler Cummins scoring 3 runs.  Iowa came back and scored 1 to force extra innings.  The 8th inning was scoreless, then, in the top of the 9th, Nathaniel Benson led off the inning with a single, and stole 2nd.  Karl Badger laid down a perfect bunt hit which moved Benson to 3rd.  Nelson pinch ran for Badger and stole 2nd.   Cummins had a sacrifice fly to  center field scoring Benson and moved Nelson to third.  Lucas Hedin’s (hed-een) infield hit scored Nelson, giving us a 13-11 lead.  Lucas Hedin struck out a batter and Karl Badger has an unassisted double play at first base to end the game.

Lucas Hedin picked up the win.

The Lake Park Junior All Stars now play Kentucky at 1PM Today.  Should they win that game- they play the Regional championship game at 5PM – the winner of that game goes on to the Junior Little League World Series in Taylor, Michigan which gets underway this Sunday.
