This week is National Bat Week, and the Lake Superior Zoo has some great family events planned for this Saturday, November 1st.

Lake Superior Zoo Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers check presentation to Bat Conservation International.

Also scheduled for 11:00 am on Saturday will be the delivery of the Boo at the Zoo 300 pound pumpkin, via fork lift, to the barnyard for the animals to enjoy. Expect the goats to have a great time playing ‘king of the hill’ and perhaps even sampling it.

Members of the Lake Superior Zoo Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) sold pumpkins during the month of October, with proceeds benefitting Bat Conservation International (BCI).

AAZK local president Rachel Meili recently stated “We expect to be able to send $400 to BCI in support of their efforts to help bats around the world. Our annual pumpkin sale is something our members look forward to doing each year and we thank our zoo visitors for supporting the fund raiser.”

In addition to these special activities, the zoo will have its regularly scheduled snapping turtle feeding at 11:30 am and brown bear training at 3:00 pm.
