A day of gusty east winds made for perfect conditions for a group of surfers to catch a wave off Brighton Beach on Lake Superior this afternoon. Beside the strong lake wind blowing up some waves, it also brought temperatures down significantly from where they were earlier this week. With air temperatures bouncing between the upper 30s and low 40s next to the shore all day (near where lake temperatures sit most of the year), some might think these brave surfers are crazy for heading out into the water. Today is actually warm compared to some of the blustery winter days some of these thrill-seekers are willing to venture out.
