After Kenny Rogers wraps up his farewell Gambler's Last Deal Tour, his priorities will shift: While the 77-year-old admits that he's spent more time on his career than with his family throughout most of his life, he is ready to full embrace fatherhood and leave a mark on the lives of his young sons, Justin and Jordan.

"Children live what they see," Rogers tells The Boot. "[My wife] Wanda and I never yell at each other; we never use bad language; neither one of us drinks.

"The other day, we were watching Cops. Wanda said, ‘I can’t believe you let them watch that show.’ I said, ‘Wanda, sit down for a second. You’ll notice that everybody they arrest has been doing alcohol or drugs,'" the country icon recalls, adding with a laugh, "I said, ‘Justin and Jordan, what have you learned from this show?’ They said, ‘Don’t drink drugs.'

"But I think it’s true: They see the people they arrest are either drunk or have done drugs," Rogers concludes. "I try to give them a positive example from a negative experience."

Rogers has achieved so much in his career, but recently, the singer has found that he is more interested in pursuing his goals as a father than accomplishing anything more professionally.

"I have two older boys that I missed that quality time with, and they’re good kids; their mothers did a great job of raising them," Rogers notes. "But I just feel that I have a legacy to leave them, and I need to be there to give it to them."

Rogers adds, "I really want to be there with my kids. They’re very important to me, and I don’t see enough of them.”
