The Minnesota Department of Public Safety has begun their 'Click It Or Ticket' campaign, to raise awareness of Minnesota's seat belt law and to raise awareness about how important it is to wear your seat belt.

I know people who don't wear seat belts and it drives me crazy.  Even if you consider yourself a fantastic driver, wearing a seat belt protect you from other drivers who may be dangerous.

According to  the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, even the safest drivers in the world are not immune from others causing them to crash, and not wearing a seat belt can prove tragic, as these stats prove:

  • In the last five years (2011 – 2015), 527 unbelted motorists lost their lives and 1,035 people suffered life-changing injuries.
  • Of the 1,379 motorists who lost their lives in the last five years (2011 – 2015), only 51 percent of them were known to be belted.
  • In 2015, 77 percent of vehicle occupants who were ejected or partially ejected and died were not wearing a seat belt.

Even if you're a passenger in an automobile, including cabs and other transportation, find the seat belt and put it on.  Also, make sure your passengers do the same to avoid getting pulled over.  It could save lives and save you the money you'd pay if you got a ticket.
