Friends Fear Suicide After ‘American Idol’ Singer Josh Gracin Posts Alarming Note
A cryptic message posted to country singer Josh Gracin‘s personal Facebook page late Thursday afternoon (Aug. 14) put fans and friends in a frenzy, concerned the singer may be preparing to take his own life.
“Please remember me as someone who gave his all in his music … Pray for my family as they carry on in this world without me. Goodbye,” Gracin writes following an honest message presumably about his wife, Ann Gracin, to whom he’s been married since 2001.
“I’ve loved her for 17 years,” the singer’s note — posted after 5PM ET — begins. “I made mistakes … I’ve admitted them, told her the truth and she turned her back on me when I needed her help the most.”
Almost immediately, the Facebook status update was flooded with comments from concerned friends, some reaching out to the singer with prayers, others begging him to answer his phone. Twitter told a similar story, with messages questioning whether Gracin’s mysterious message was in fact a suicide note.
According to TMZ, police rushed to the Gracins’ home, where they found his wife, but not the singer. They were allegedly able to reach him by phone and get him to return home.
An update from his manager on his official Twitter reads:
This is Josh's manager, Amy. Thank you everyone for your prayers & concern. Josh is safe & with his family now. I promise to update soon.

At roughly 10:30PM ET, Gracin took to Facebook himself, writing: “To all of you.. I apologize dearly for what I have put you through today… I am ok and I am getting help. I am so sorry to all of you.”
Gracin, 33, placed fourth in Season 2 of ‘American Idol.’ After being eliminated from the show, the singer returned to complete his service as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He then signed with Lyric Street Records, releasing a self-titled debut album in 2004. It produced a No. 1 hit in ‘Nothin’ to Lose.’ His most recent release, a song called ‘I Want It Gone,’ impacted in 2013. He has four children with wife Ann — three daughters and a son.
Update: Gracin has since been hospitalized and is on psychiatric hold. Get the latest.
