National Night Out is something our neighborhood looks forward to every summer thanks to the Winklesky family!  They host a HUGE picnic complete with kids games and prizes!!  They provide the BBQ and everyone in the neighborhood brings a dish to share.  It's a great time to connect with people you may only wave to every other day of the year!

National Night Out is sponsored in the City of Duluth by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored by Duluth's finest, the Duluth Police Department.  Mark Tuesday, August 5th on your calendar and join thousands of communities nationwide in celebration!

When I say thousands of communities, I mean literally 37.8 million people in all 50 states and Canada, as well as those on military bases.  This year is anticipated to be the biggest ever!  You don't want to miss out, do you?

It's not all about food, fun and games.  It is actually part of a campaign to heighten crime prevention awareness, lend support to anti-crime programs and strengthen neighborhood spirit and partner with our local police. It let's would be criminals know that we are banding together to fight crime.

Neighborhoods throughout Duluth will be hosting a variety of events such as block parties, cookouts, and visits from police officers, youth activities and anti-crime rallies. This is a night for America to stand together to promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity.

The Duluth Police Department would like to recognize and thank the many citizens of Duluth who volunteer their time and continue to be our partners in the fight against crime. A large amount of crimes and particularly vehicle prowls, damage to property, thefts and burglaries have resulted in arrests and successful prosecutions because of neighbors looking out for each other and calling police to report suspicious activity. I for one appreciate the time, efforts and determination of my neighbors that help keep a watchful eye out for our property.

Registration is open until Friday, August 1 at 1pm, if you would like to host a National Night Out Event in Duluth. To register contact Pam Kleinschmidt at 218-722-7178 or pkleinschmidt@duluthmn.gov.
