Locally, we relied on Spike, the porcupine at the Lake Superior Zoo to tell us if we will have six more weeks of winter.  He ate his breakfast on Monday, made his predictions and scampered off.  One groundhog in Wisconsin wasn't so cordial and was naughty with their Mayor.  At least he didn't draw blood.

First things first, unfortunately for the Northland, Spike saw his shadow.  That means (unofficially) that we can expect six more weeks of winter.  But, it's the Northland, sorta the norm.  Spike was a good boy, Jimmy the groundhog in Sun Prairie, WI not so much.

Jimmy was front and center with his handler and the mayor who was in the middle of the declaration of Jimmy's prediction when Jimmy decided the Mayor's ear looked tasty.  Kudos to the Mayor who flinched but was a total trooper!
