Something I've been pretty upset about this year is how icy of a winter it's been.  The constant warm ups and quick freezes have left roads, sidewalks, even yards glare ice.  Our yard at home is tough to even walk through, our alley is an ice chute, and I've fallen down more times than I care to share.   Even this last weekend when I was trying to get into my cabin, I ran into a little bit of a problem as you can see.

It had only been about 3 weeks since I was up there last time.  I was able to punch through the soft snow rather easily last time with 4 wheel drive to get in to the cabin.  This time I assumed it would be the same.   What I didn't think about was that it wasn't snow anymore, it was semi melted and re-frozen snow that was like concrete.  I launched over the hump and promptly got my truck stuck.

It was a stupid mistake, but I figured at worst I would just be able to shovel myself out.   When I went to shovel, the hump was so solid frozen that the shovel couldn't' break it up.  I had to use a pick axe I got from the garage to break it apart so we could back out.

At least we found our way to get some exercise!
