People who are ready to leave winter behind will love this sign that spring is approaching.  It's getting close to the time of year when ice fishing shelters must be removed from Minnesota lakes.

According to the Minnesota DNR, dates of ice fishing shelter removal are determined by an east-west line formed by U.S. Highway 10, east along Highway 34 to Minnesota Hwy. 200, east along Highway 200 to U.S. Highway 2, and east along Highway 2 to the Minnesota-Wisconsin border.

Shelters located south of this line must be removed by the end of the day on Monday, March 7 while shelters located north of this line must be removed by the end of the day on Monday, March 21.

Exceptions of note are shelters on Minnesota-Canada border waters, which must be removed by March 31 and shelters on Minnesota-Wisconsin border waters, which must be removed by March 1.
