Hunter Hayes may only be 22, but he's caught the eye of Elton John, and finished up the title track track for the legend's forthcoming tribute album.

Hayes, Miguel and John Grant are among the nine artists who have finished songs for a 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' tribute album, according to Billboard.

"Hunter Hayes has done 'Yellow Brick Road,' played all the instruments and he blew my mind," John enthused. There aren't many young people who can have that accolade added to their repertoire, but the talented multi-instrumentalist and vocalist deserves the praise.

Hayes is among a select group of other young artists that have made an impression on John, including Disclosure, Hanni El Khatib, Queens of the Stone Age and Lorde.

Elton added, "The energy of youth is a wonderful thing to observe. I have great faith in the young. If you are 66 and want to make a difference I have to push barriers. I'm not coasting; coasting is dangerous."

It's not surprising that the 'I Want Crazy' singer is revered even in the mind of the 'Tiny Dancer' hitmaker. Hayes continues to make a huge splash in country music, recently celebrating his first No. 1 album 'Hunter Hayes (Encore)' and selling out the Ryman.

The 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' tribute album is poised to be released next year. It marks the 40th anniversary of the classic record.
