How Touristy Did My Mom & I Get This Weekend?
I mentioned on The Breakfast Club quite a few times that my mom was coming into town for the weekend. Ken and I asked you all to call in and help me make a fun list of activities that would keep us occupied for a few days. You all had some great suggestions!
I mentioned the ideas to my mom and we decided to feel it out when she got here. She arrived Friday afternoon. When she showed up at my office door, both our jaws fell to the floor. Why? Because we were pretty much wearing the exact same outfit. Awkward!
In my (almost) 26 years on Earth, we have never worn something even remotely similar. I did not know she owned a sweater like mine and vice versa. Keep in mind, we did not talk to each other about our clothing options that day. We simply kept in touch as she hit the road and headed this way.
Needless to say, we had to explain to everyone for the rest of the day that we did not plan this. It just happened. I guess great minds think alike.
Despite being slightly embarrassed every time we went out into the world, we still had a fun Friday. We walked around Canal Park and ate a big dinner.
We spent most of Saturday cleaning, shopping and unpacking. By the late evening, we decided to call it a day on the moving business and eat. We had another great meal in Canal Park. That's when I asked her how she felt about going to The Haunted Ship. She agreed to drive by and scope out the situation. This was already a win because she doesn't do well with scary.
When we got there, I somehow hoodwinked her into doing it. She made us wait until a few more people lined up so we didn't have to go in alone. It was amazing! I thought I was going to lose my voice from all my blood-curdling screams. (My moms screams put mine to shame, though.) When we were all done, she was mad at me for making her go because she was scared the whole time. I highly recommend it!
When all was said and done, we didn't have as much time as we hoped to hit the town but I have my list handy for next time! Thanks for all the great suggestions!
