High Speed Rail Line On Track
While funding is still a crucial part of the equation, the possibility of having a high speed rail line from Duluth to Minneapolis took a step forward with the release of a report more than two years in the making.
The Northland’s News Center is reporting that results of a recent environmental assessment show that ridership is forecasted at 938 thousand riders in 2020 and will grow to more than one point three million riders by 2040.
It also found the high speed train may alleviate the future traffic volumes to increase up to 100 percent on Highway 35 by 2030.
This could create jobs and stimulate the economy as Duluth and Minneapolis become breakfast communities to one another.
There are political and financial hurdles to overcome, but this plan is still very much alive.
