A margarita pictured here would contain well over 1,000 calories.  My guess is more like 1500, but it's hard to say.  The reason is mostly the mix that you use with tequila to make a margarita.  I enjoy an occasional margarita, but let's face it.  There's a ton of calories and we are all in the battle of the bulge.

I quickly googled on my iPhone for the fewest calorie margarita mix while I was at the grocery store.  To my surprise, I found a bunch of home made recipes that boasted only 100 or so calories a glass. That's pretty good, considering an 8 oz glass mixed margarita has at least 300 calories.

I combined the several different recipes, took what I liked and didn't, and came up with this recipe.

3.5 oz of tequila (I used Sauza Gold and just a tad extra)

1 can of diet 7 up

2 packets of crystal lite to go lemonade ( you know the ones you add to the bottle of water ) you can also used different flavors to mix it up.  It doesn't have to be crystal lite either, just a low cal powdered mix.

squirt in some lime juice

Stir it up and serve over ice.  It's delicious and around only 100 calories.  This recipe will make 2 servings, because you always want to have one for someone else, or after the first, you'll want another.

Enjoy!
