Great Lakes Aquarium Asks “What Should We Name Our New Otters?”
Wet and wild! That’s how the two new river otters are described at the Great Lakes Aquarium. Have you met them yet? If you haven’t had the chance to welcome them in person, no worries, take the poll and when you do, you can greet them….by a name that you helped choose.
The contest was announced yesterday according to the Northlands News Center.
The two young otters replace one that died last year and one that was recently retired at the age of 17.
The hard parts been done, coming up with the names, now it’s time to vote.
“We have five pairs of names that we have based on Minnesota parks and rivers, some are local rocks, some of them pay homage to their homeland.” said Allison Iacone of the Aquarium.
The otters come from Louisiana where they were rescued from traps.
