Governor Mark Dayton Appeals FEMA Decision

Recently FEMA denied individual aid to flood victims in our area.  Obviously this was not a popular decision and created hardship for many of our neighbors.  Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton does not support this decision at all and he’s trying to get FEMA to reconsider with his appeal.

Dayton cited the preliminary assessment of more than $108 million to public infrastructure, the per capita cost of $675 per resident in Carlton County, and the more than 1,700 homes that were damaged by the June flood.

Based on history, having an appeal result in FEMA changing their mind is quite a long shot.  However, you have no shot at all if you don’t challenge FEMA so kudos to state and local leaders for putting in the effort.
