General Mills Unveils the First of Three Wheaties Boxes Featuring Adrian Peterson on the Cover [PHOTO]

While Vikings fans have to wait a few more weeks before seeing Adrian Peterson hit the field, they have the chance to see their favorite superstar appear in all his glory on Wheaties boxes.

General Mills revealed the first of three different Wheaties boxes that will feature Peterson, who was named the 2012 NFL MVP and led the Minnesota Vikings to their first playoff appearance in a few years.

In a release from the Big G, Wheaties calls Peterson “...an inspiration both on and off of the football field who has overcome adversity and injury to rank among football’s elite. His leadership and performance made him a natural fit for this honor.”

Wheaties will try something new with these limited-edition Peterson boxes, using Blippar; which is an augmented reality platform. Scanning the box with the app, or "blipping it" unlocks exclusive content that includes an Adrian Peterson video game and some sharable photo opportunities. The first box (pictured below) will be available this week, and the other two boxes will be available soon.
