I HAD to blog this because I feel like I need to defend myself.  Honestly, a fresh snowfall certainly brings out the worst in our parking habits.  Proof is in the picture above.  We've all experienced it and wondered what people were thinking (or if they even were) when they parked!

Here's the story:  I am one of the first people to arrive at work every morning.  Usually I park near the building for a variety of reasons.  If it's snowing the roof overhang protects my windshield from excessive snow.  It's tucked next to the building so I don't have to worry about other people from additional businesses in our building hitting it and lastly, I can use my car started from "inside" my office with it parked so near to the building.

On this particular morning, the plow driver had plowed the edge of our lot, but was still working on the area where I usually park, so I parked somewhere new.  Now mind you, I was the FIRST person in the lot.  In the picture above, it appears that I parked in the middle of three parking spots, but that wasn't the case.  Why did the people parked next to me not fill in directly beside me to utilize all the parking spaces in our lot?  Was it because they couldn't see the lines?

We've all experienced a retail parking lot at one time or another that looks like an apocalypse has just happened with cars parked in every direction.  It's always after a fresh snowfall when you can't see the lines.  But, why is it so hard to just line up with the car next to you?  It usually ends up being an "S" curve line of cars and sometimes is so bad you can't even get through.  Then backing up in that mess takes valuable shopping minutes because there's 3 or 4 cars that have pulled up behind you, they're mad because you stopped (for a very legitimate reason) and everyone has to back up in order for everyone to back up, UGH!

Don't even get me started on the topic of waiting for someone who has just gotten to their car to leave their parking spot, they know you're waiting with our blinker on and they don't just get in their car and go.  They put on lipstick, check their facebook page on their phone, or who knows what?  Wow, I'm feisty today, aren't I?
