Summer is here, which is a time to celebrate for students everywhere.  It's also a time that can put extra stress on parents as they look for ways to keep kids busy and out of trouble.  Duluth Parks and Recreation has a program starting Wednesday, June 21, that should help.

According to the city, the Champions Building Champions program, a partnership with Men as Peacemakers to build social and character concepts through athletic activities for youth ages 7-17, runs on the Heritage Center turf from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. every Wednesday now through August 24.

There is also an open skate opportunity for all ages on the Heritage ice rink every Wednesday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. through August 30.  A limited number of skates will be available for use.

Both of these programs are free and children under 10 should be accompanied by an adult.  The Heritage Sports Center is located at 120 S. 30th Ave West in Duluth.
