Not getting drafted does not at all mean you can't be an NFL star.  Just ask former Kansas City Chief star running back Priest Holmes or Super Bowl winning quarterback Kurt Warner.

Isaac Odim, star running back for the University of Minnesota Duluth over the past four seasons, said today that he has signed a contract with the San Diego Chargers of the National Football League.

“I just signed with the Chargers! Might be flying out today—time to pack! San Diego here I come,” Odim announced via Twitter.

The Minnesota Duluth athletic web site also is reporting that Odim, the first three-time All-American in the 79-year history of the program, announced this morning that he has signed a free agent contract with the Chargers.

Odim still has to try out for the team and make the final roster.

Odim wasn’t taken in NFL draft earlier this year and was unable to sign with any team until the NFL labor dispute ended on Monday.

Odim, a senior from Rochester, Minn., was hoping to become the first Bulldog to get drafted since offensive tackle Brent Griffith was selected in the seventh round by the Buffalo Bills in 1990.
