For Grandmas Marathon, This Weeks Country Throwback Visits 1965 and George Jones [VIDEO]

This weekend marks another Grandmas Marathon, so I thought this song would be perfect for my Country Throwback.

"The Race Is On" was released by George Jones in 1965, the first single from his album of the same name.  It peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart.

The song has been covered by the likes of The Grateful Dead and Sawyer Brown, who had a top five hit with it in 1989.
